APhA 2023 will take place March 24 to March 27 in Phoenix, Arizona
In just 4 days, pharmacists from across the country will descend on Phoenix, Arizona for APhA 2023, the annual meeting of the American Pharmacists Association. Drug Topics staff will be on-site, bringing readers the latest from the convention floor.
This year’s meeting features more than 100 educational sessions across 19 different educational tracks; topics include digital health, immunization, and public health, as well as leadership, communication, and entrepreneurship and several advanced training programs. Attendees can earn up to 20.5 CE credits from these sessions. The program was designed around the theme of the 2023 Annual Meeting, RISE! Advancing in the Face of Adversity.
Saturday’s General Session will feature keynote speaker Inky Johnson, who will speak on the topic of insights into overcoming adversity. Johnson sustained a “life-threatening, career-ending injury” during his junior year of college; since then, he has used his story of perseverance to add value to other’s lives. On Sunday, a keynote panel titled “Small Things. Big Impact.” showcases 4 pharmacists who will share their experiences in helping patient overcome adversity. Panelists include Michael D. Hogue, PharmD, FAPhA, FNAP, FFIP, Dean and professor at the Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy; Jacinda Abdul-Mutakabbir, PharmD, MPH, AAHIVP, assistant professor of clinical pharmacy at the University of California, San Diego; Lydia Bailey, PharmD, BCACP, pharmacy operations manager at St. Vincent de Paul Charitable Pharmacy; and Danielle James, PharmD, pharmacy manager at Walgreens.
“We’ve reached a pivotal moment in the history of pharmacy,” the meeting website noted. “We are on the cusp of great changes that will affect the profession on all levels. At APhA 2023, we’re rising to bring together pharmacists from all practice settings and experience levels to learn, connect, and create opportunities to transform the future of pharmacy, together.”
