The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Annual Convention and Expo will kick off Saturday, October 14 and run through Tuesday, October 17 in sunny Orlando, Florida. As always, the meeting includes a packed slate of engaging business programming, continuing education sessions, and more. Ready to Team Up? Read on!

Session Highlights

The Drug Topics team will be on site at the Orange County Convention Center bringing the latest news and updates from NCPA’s business education sessions. Here are our sessions to watch for:

Saturday, October 14 at 9:30 AM

Technology to the Rescue! Efficiency Solutions from Your Peers

Ashley Moose, PharmD, BCACP, co-owner of Moose Pharmacy, director of network development and marketing at CPESN USA, and NCPA Technology Committee Chair, will highlight real-world examples of community pharmacists who have used technology to work smarter, not harder.

Get Your Team to the DSCSA Finish Line

Scott Mooney, MBA, vice president of distribution operations at McKesson, will provide attendees with a roadmap to succeed during the last push to implement DSCSA in their pharmacies. Learn about responsibilities and expectations and prepare in the event that problems arise.

We Don’t Have Time for That! Eliminating the Excuses and Starting New Services

Tiffany Capps, CPhT, pharmacy operations manager at Galloway-Sands Pharmacy and CPESN USA Beacon, and Christine Cline-Dahlman, CPhT, program coordinator at CPESN USA, are ready to urge attendees to take the leap into the unknown by launching new services to bolster patient care and improve patient revenue. Hear from your pharmacy peers and learn how they overcame their own fears and challenges around new services.

General Sessions

As always, don’t forget to check out the General Sessions. The First General Session, scheduled for Sunday, October 15 at 9:30 AM, will include an address by NCPA president Hugh Chancy, RPh, and features a keynote address from Peter Lovatt, PhD. Lovatt, also known as Dr Dance, is a dance psychologist with experience in both dance and cognitive psychology. During his address, Lovatt will delve into an exploration of the psychology of movement and share why our creativity skyrockets when we move our bodies.

The Second General Session, taking place Monday, October 16 at 9:30 AM, features an address from NCPA CEO B. Douglas Hoey, RPh, and a keynote session from Marty Makary, MD, a surgeon at Johns Hopkins and a professor at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Makary will share his thoughts on the current state of the health care system.

Expo Hall
